Artifact Comparisons:
-
X-Wing vs. TieFighter - We had the idea for Artifact in Summer '95. At the
time we had no idea that 1.5 years later LucasArts would be getting in on
the act. We are all looking forward to X-Wing vs. TieFighter. Much of what
we wanted will be present in XvsTie. Here is why you should bye
Artifact IN ADDITION to XvsTie:
-
Graphics are as good or better than XvsTie (as far as we've
seen from the screen shots
of XvsTie)
-
Ship customizability in XvsTie is presumably simulare to TieFighter or XWing:
minimul. It works great for XvsTie, but if you want more, look towards Artifact.
-
If Artifact goes all the way as planned (see the Future Hopes section), instead
of a set of 20-50 missions, there will be a dynamic, interactive plot in
which you will never be restricted to where you can go (unless you engines
get short out in deep space...). This plot will be designed so
that it can be played as a
multi-player cooperative game and be at least, if not more fun than the single
player version. We don't expect the full game to support
vs. game play. However, there will be some sort of arena
based death-match mode.

WingCommander / Privateer
-
We won't have the million dollar movie sequences.
-
Um, well, NETWORK PLAY!
-
Ship customizability, bla, bla, bla
-
The universe will be far more dynamic and interesting. Though I haven't tried
BattleCruiser yet, from what I've heard, our goals for a dynamic universe
are simular.
-
Lemmings
-
There will be no cute little green guys you can command to nuke them selves.
-
There will be no "Yippie"s!
-
There will be no shameless missrepresentaions of little green people.
