| Archos DVR20/DVR100
Samples |
33 sec clip from the Jurassic Park trailer: JurrasicParkDVR20Sample.AVI (6464k).
Same file reencoded in DivX 5.03 took only 4100k
I'd say the two files are about identical in quality. That says that the DVR gets about 1/2 the quality/size ratio that DivX gets. None the less, the file looks pretty good if you can get past the 15fps.
Notice how vibrant the colors are.
On a PC you can see compression artifacts, but on the JBM20 itself you cannot. The DVR20 does seem to be a good way to get video onto your JBM20.
Sample from Starwars II: SW2_DVR100Sample.avi (3528k)
You can tell that it is still rather low resolution if you watch it on a TV, but the FPS quality is good and the artifacting isn't bad. Interesting that they number of keyframes is the same for 24s on the DVR100 as for 34s on the DVR20. Coincidence?
Clearly, though, the DVR100 is more than adequate for recording video to be watched on your AV100.
Note, this file plays back smoothly on the JBM20, but I've heard that it does not on the AV100s as of the current firmware.
