1) Who is Archos Team, what is your name ?
- Archos Team is not a single person, as the name says we are a team.
Different people will answer through this account depending on the nature
of the questions.
2) When will the video module for the existing JBMM be released ?
- The development of the "JBM Digital Video Recorder' (JBM DVR)
has been delayed due to unexpected difficulties in the implementation
of the encoding pipeline. The JBM DVR is to be released at the end of
January 2003. Its specifications are still subject to change and will
be published in due time.
3) What about the better DIVX support for the existing Jukebox ?
- Due to the limitations of the hardware there will be no update allowing
a higher resolution for MPEG4 decoding on the Archos Jukebox Multimedia
4) Why are there two kind of batteries 1100mAh and 2200mAh ?
- Every battery pack in the Archos Jukebox Multimedia is made from two
batteries of 1100mAh each, resulting in a total capacity of 2200mAh.
There is no later battery pack that has a higher capacity.
5) Are you using the XING codec ? Why not use the LAME codec ?
- We are not using the XING codec and also not the LAME codec. Both
are codecs for a PC environment. The codec in the Archos Jukebox Multimedia
is an implementation of the Frauenhofer IIS codec.
6) Will Archos Open Source the firmware ?
- At the moment there are no plans to open source the firmware for the
Archos Jukebox Multimedia. Besides this firmware being a valauble key
asset to our company, there are also legal implications with third parties
whose intellectual property we use and which we are not allowed to divulge.
7) What is the Archos "roadmap" for future products ?
- Please understand that we will not disclose our "roadmap".
We will inform retailers and customers about new products as we see
fit.
8) Wrong date for live-recorded MP3 files ?
- This bug has been found and corrected, the fix will be included in
the next firmware release
9) Why are pictures displayed on the LCD or the TV screen not zoomed
to fit?
The Archos Jukeboy Multimedia can resize pictures only in certain steps.
Therefore it cannot always be guaranteed that a picture will exactly
fit to screen. If you want to create an image that covers the whole
screen then the following dimensions have to be used:
